ARTS022     Simón Fernández began his musical studies at the age of 11 at the ‘Conservatorio Profesional de Música’ in Zaragoza with Professor D. Fernando Gomez, while participating in courses with Antonio Nuez, Jaime Martin, Magdalena Martínez, Salvador Espasa, Vicent Prats, Antonio Arias and others. During his professional studies he performed with many chamber music groups as well as with the ‘Banda Sinfónica de Aragón’ and the ‘Orquesta Sinfónica de Zaragoza’. Later on, Simón continued his musical studies at the ‘Conservatorio Superior de Música de Zaragoza’ where he got the bachelor degree of music in flute specialization.

He has taught in several schools and bands in Zaragoza, in the ‘Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Huesca’ and ‘Conservatorio Profesional de Musica de Tarazona.’ In March 2011 Simón created a course for teaching wind instruments called ‘The flute in the Flamenco Field’ and has imparted it in the ‘CMP of Zaragoza.’ He has been invited as a guest professor at the International Music Course in Tarazona (July 2013). Simón is currently Professor of Flute at the School of Music and Conservatoire ‘L-interpret’ in Lleida where he teaches flamenco, jazz and professional studies.

His curiosity about the role of Flute in other musical styles like Flamenco or Jazz led him to study in Madrid with Juan Parrilla -national benchmark in flamenco flute - and attends to numerous master classes with Diego del Morao  and Jorge Pardo among others. In 2005 Simón joined the show ‘Savia Nueva’ with Carmen Paris and Miguel Angel Berna. He also collaborates in various musical scene groups from Aragón like ‘La Querencia’,  ‘Pure FLMNKO’, ‘Enrique Amador Musi’, ‘Las Jaleo’, ‘Flamenco Contemporary Ensemble’ with Miguel Angel Remiro and Javier Duran, ‘Colors Flamenco’ from Lleida  and many other groups around the Spanish geography.

Simón has participated in the recording of several albums like ‘Solo & Company’, ‘Flamenco Contemporary Ensemble’, ‘Entre Lunas’ with Enrique Amador and ‘Marsika, the electronic album’ with the group's singer D'Callaos la canija.

He has shared the stage with artists like Jose Mercé, Moraito Chico, Juan Manuel Cañizares, Miguel Poveda, Mayte Martín, Capullo de Jerez, Jose Menese, Tutero de Huesca and Duquende among others. He has participated in several festivals and concert series like ‘Festival de las Músicas del Ebro’, ‘Ciclo Flamenco de Zaragoza’,’Expo Zaragoza 2008’ with different ensembles, ‘Festival Luna Lunera’, ’Ciclo Flamenco “De Aquí”’ in Zaragoza, ’Festival Pirineos Sur’ as the support band for Maestro Paco de Lucia, ‘Festival de cine Latino-americano de Lleida’, ‘Ciclo Diumenges a Tot Ritme’ and ‘Festival Músiques Disperses’ in Lleida.373806 10200330095362545 1095786943 n

He collaborates with Tutero de Huesca to present his new album ‘Alma rota’ and forms a duo with Romero Iglesias in the guitar to present the ensemble in Germany and Canada.
